Rimmel Show-Off Lip Laquer (Apocalips) Review

This is a relatively new product by Rimmel London, in the US anyway!  It has been out in the UK for a while and in the UK it is known as Apocalips instead of Show-Off.
When I heard this was coming to the US I was really excited and had really high hopes for the product.  Now that I got my hands on it, I have mixed feelings.  There are some really good qualities and some not so good qualities about it.
One good point is the price ($4.99 at Walgreens).  I think that is a very reasonable price for what you are getting.  Also, the opacity and pigmentation is WONDERFUL.  It really is almost like a liquid lipstick.  It feels good on the lips and the lasting power is really great.  It easily stays on for hours.
The bad thing about this product is the smell.  It is honestly horrible.  The smell reminds me of chemicals mixed with flowers.  Most of the time if a product has a "not-so-pleasant" smell it doesn't bother me because once you apply it the smell kind-of goes away.  NOT the case with this stuff.  When I put it on, the smell does not at all go away.  It is really ridiculous!  I have only worn it only a handful of times and I actually had to wipe it off a couple of those times because I just couldn't keep smelling it.  That is the only negative I see with the product but it is a really big negative.
I wanted to add this picture to show you something unique about the doe-foot applicator.  If you look at the center of the applicator, you will notice a little hole that is filled up with the actual product.  I do like this little detail because that means there is enough product on the applicator to do both lips without dipping back into the container.
When I purchased the one color I have, I actually got two colors, but have since gave the other color away because it just wasn't a good color for me.  However, the color I kept is really pretty and I enjoy it.
Overall, I would say if you think you can handle the smell of this product, then you should pick it up.  The product itself is really good quality and a very reasonable price.  I don't think you would be disappointed!

I hope you found this review helpful and I hope you have a great day!

Coastal Scents 28 Neutral Palette

I decided to do a post on this eyeshadow palette because it just isn't talked about enough, in my opinion.  This isn't a new palette and has been around for a while, but I love this palette and for anyone who loves neutral eyeshadows, I would say it is a must-have!  I think Coastal Scents shadows all-together are incredible, especially for the price!

These are all the colors in the palette! As you can see, there is a wide variety of neutral shades, so I think this would work for absolutely everyone!  There is a mix of both warm and cool tones, which is always a plus!  I think the pigmentation is wonderful, there is a mix of matte, satin, and glittery shades; so whatever you prefer, this palette is sure to have it!  These shadows can also be applied wet or dry, so you can change the finish somewhat depending on your preference! I just think Coastal Scents really hit the ball out of the park with this one!

The price is normally $18.95, however Coastal Scents has great sales all the time, so there is really no need to pay full-price for this palette!

I will say that some of the shades are a little chalky and there is some fall-out with a few of the shades, but I think for the price, this really is hard to beat!

The packing is nice and sleek and thin!  The only downfalls to the packing is that there is no mirror, and the outside does tend to show fingerprints, but that isn't a deal breaker for me.  Also, the packaging is easy to clean, all you need to do is wipe it off with a makeup wipe and it looks as good as new!

I really recommend picking it up!  Coastal Scents isn't sold in stores, but you can purchase it online at CoastalScents.com .  The shipping is reasonable and it ships really quickly from my experience!

Top 10 Drugstore Eyeshadows

It was difficult to narrow this down to only 10, but I managed to do it! I am listing the price of each shadow with it's picture, along with where you can find these shadows! Again, you will probably notice a trend with this list because I do tend to gravitate toward more neutral colored shadows.  I hope you enjoy this list, and hopefully you will find a new shadow to try!

1. Wet N Wild- Nutty

Price: $1.99

This particular shadow is my favorite of all drugstore shadows that are available.  Wet N Wild shadows as a whole are wonderful, and this shade takes the cake!  It is a beautiful taupe shade and I find it is wonderful as a one shade look.  If you pat it onto your lids and then also blend it into your crease it really doesn't look like you are only using one color.  It has wonderful dimension of color!  It doesn't crease during the day and using a primer or base underneath it will really make the color pop even more!  This color is especially beautiful on blue eyes, but looks great on everyone!  For me, Wet N Wild can be found at my local drugstores (Walgreens, CVS, Rite Aid), Wal-Mart, and Target!

2. Wet N Wild- Brulee

Price: $1.99

This is another one of the Wet N Wild single shadows that I had to include in this list!  This is a matte cream color that makes a beautiful highlight color!  I also enjoy putting this color all over the lid and putting Nutty (above) in the crease!  It really does make for a beautiful eye look.  Again, I don't notice any creasing with this shadow and I really do enjoy it!  As with all of the single shadows by Wet N Wild, the pigmentations is wonderful and they are extremely  high quality for the super low price!  I highly recommend that everyone should have this shadow in their collection!  I can find this shadow at the same locations as Nutty (local drugstores, Wal-Mart, and Target)!

3. NYX- Aloha

Price: $ 4.49

NYX is another "drugstore" makeup brand that has incredible shadows.  This one is my favorite of the ones I have tried and one of my favorite shadows in general!  It makes a beautiful highlight color for the brow-bone and inner tear-duct area.  It is also really pretty all over the lid for a nice soft look with some pizazz!  The only complaint I have about this particular shadow is that it is a tiny bit chalky, but not so much that it keeps me from reaching for this color.  I will also say that not all of the NYX shadows are chalky at all!  This shadow isn't as easily accessible because they can only be found at Ulta or at nyxcosmetics.com .  However, I think it is definitely worth it to get your hands on this beautiful color!

4. L'Oreal Infallible- Amber Rush

Price: $7.99

One word...BEAUTIFUL!!! This shadow reminds me of a pressed pigment, it has incredible pigmentation!  This particular color is a rose gold color and is quite glittery/shimmery!  This, in my opinion, is the most beautiful of all of the L'Oreal Infallible shades!  This is another shadow that I think looks great on blue eyes, but with the beautiful color of this shadow, it will be very pretty with any color eye!  It can be used wet as well for an even more metallic look.  I think everyone would really enjoy this eye shadow and it would be a wonderful addition to your collection!  I can find this at my local drugstores, Wal-Mart, Target, and also at Ulta!

5. ELF Baked Eyeshadow- Toasted

Price: $3.00

This color is a beautiful peachy neutral shade!  The picture above has two swatches because the one on the left is dry and the one on the right is wet.  I hope you can see that the wet swatch looks more metallic and stands out a little more.  I think this color is perfection when used all over the lid and I highly recommend it!  ELF is super low priced and I find it really wonderful quality!  I can find ELF products at Target and also at eyeslipsface.com .  I have heard that ELF products are coming to Wal-Mart, but I haven't seen them at mine.  However, check your local Wal-Mart and maybe you can find this shadow there!

6. ELF Baked Eyeshadow- Bark

Price: $3.00

This color is one of the darker colors from the Baked Eyeshadow line by ELF but it doesn't come off as dark as it looks in the pan!  It is a beautiful brown metallic color.  I think this color would be beautiful on absolutely everyone!  I typically wear this particular color in the crease, but it is equally gorgeous all over the lid!  If you want a nice neutral eye, wearing the baked eyeshadow in Toasted (above) all over the lid and Bark in the crease is really beautiful!  Again, the swatch on the left is dry and the one on the right is wet.  As you can see using this eyeshadow wet does make it more metallic and brings out the pigment even more!  As with the one above, I can find this shadow at Target or at eyeslipsface.com.

7. ELF Baked Eyeshadow- Burnt Plum

Price: $3.00

This is the third and last of the ELF baked shadow that made my top 10 list.  This one is called Burnt Plum, but I almost think the name is a little misleading.  In the pan, the shadow does look a little more "plum-y" than the swatch does, but in the pan and the swatch, it is a beautiful color!  To me the color is more a reddish brown with just a hint of plum.  I think it looks nice on my blue eyes, but it would be so pretty on everyone!  As with the other two baked shadows, the swatch on the left is dry and one on the right is wet.  Of the three in my list, this one has the biggest difference when used wet.  However, I do think it is beautiful used wet or dry.  Again, this shadow can be found at Target or at eyeslipsface.com .

8. Makeup Geek shadow- Cinderella

Price: $5.99 (pan) $7.99 (compact)

Technically, I guess you wouldn't consider this a "drugstore" shadow because it can only be found online, but because of the great price, I included it in my list!  Makeup Geek shadows are some of the absolute best shadows on the market!  They are super pigmented and super creamy!  This particular color is beautiful, but I am not sure you could go wrong with any of the Makeup Geek shadows!  On the Makeup Geek website, this color is described as a "pale shimmery pink" and I think they really "hit the nail on the head" with that description!  I will also tell you that the Makeup Geek site says that this color is a dupe for MAC's Bold and Braisen shadow.  I don't have that shadow so I can't say that for sure, but going by the swatches on the MUG site, I would agree.  I just really really recommend this shadow!  The only place you can pick it up is on the MUG site but it is definitely worth it!

9. Makeup Geek shadow- Cupcake

Price: $5.99 (pan) $7.99 (compact)

This is another one of the fabulous shadows from Makeup Geek!  I usually pair this color with Cinderella (above) all over the lid and this color in the crease!  I think it makes for a little different twist on a natural eye!  I think it would be beautiful on everyone and it is just a really pretty matte pink!  The MUG site describes this color as "matte medium pink" and that is dead on!  Like the other MUG shadows, it is so pigmented and creamy and just absolutely wonderful!  This eyeshadow can be found on the MUG website .

10. Makeup Geek shadow- Country Girl

Price: $5.99 (pan) $7.99 (compact)

This is the final shadow in my top 10 and it is another Makeup Geek eyeshadow!  This color is called Country Girl and it is a beautiful color and, in my opinion, it is a unique color.  I don't have any other colors like this in my collection and I am so glad I found it!  The MUG site describes it as a "shimmery pink brown" and I think that is a good description.  However, I would probably describe it as a shimmery brown with red undertones.  I think this color would look good on everyone and it is really nicely pigmented!  I think this color would look really nice in a eye look with the other two MUG shadows on this list!  It was originally the name that attracted me to this color and I am so glad I decided to get it!  I recommend picking this shadow up and adding it to your collection! It can be found on the MUG website .

Top 10 Drugstore Lipsticks

I went through my lipsticks today and decided to do a Top 10 Drugstore Lipsticks post.  You will probably notice a trend with the colors (haha)!  Most of these are more neutral colors, but I guess you like what you like! I have added prices of each one of these and the prices are from Ulta

1. Loreal Colour Riche- Fairest Nude

Price: $7.99

This lipstick is probably my favorite of all my drugstore lipsticks.  In my opinion, it is the perfect "pinky nude" color.  It is slightly drying, but not so much that it feels uncomfortable on the lips.  Actually, I find that the slightly dry formula helps with the staying power of the lipstick.  I highly recommend picking this one up and giving it a try, I really don't think you will be disappointed!

2. Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick- Pink Cognito

Price: $6.99

This lipstick is a relatively new find and I hesitated to put it in this post because I am not sure if it is permanent or limited edition.  However, I really enjoy it and it became a fast favorite, so I wanted to include it.  This color is more of a "peachy-pink" nude.  It isn't incredibly pigmented, but I think it has just the right amount of pigment and does have a glossy look to it.  If this color is a color that you think you would enjoy, I would suggest going out and trying to find it now just in case it is limited edition.  It really is a nice lipstick and a beautiful color!

3. Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick- Dreamy

Price: $5.99

This lipstick is a very pretty peach colored lipstick.  It is slightly glossy and, in my opinion, it does have almost an iridescent look to it.  I think that this lipstick is beautiful on it's own, but is the perfect lipstick for layering.  If you have a lipstick that you enjoy, but sometimes you just want a little something more, I would suggest trying this lipstick layered on top.  I think this lipstick is a staple because it can be used in so many other lip combinations.  Dreamy is a definite recommend for your collection!

4. Revlon Lip Butter- Peach Parfait

Price: $7.49

There are several lip butters on this list, but Peach Parfait is by far my favorite of them all.  The color is absolutely gorgeous! It is a peach, but it has a slight pink tint to it.  I will warn you that there is some definite glitter in this shade, but I don't find it gritty or anything like that.  Even with the glitter, it is still creamy and moisturizing.  I just love, love, love this lipstick (lip butter).  The wear time for me is usually around a few hours and I do find that sometimes when it wears off, there is some glitter left behind.  However, for me that is ok because I just reapply and all is right with the world (haha)! This, along with the Loreal lipstick listed above, is one that I think you should go out and get (like right now!)!

5. Revlon Lip Butter- Crème Brulee

Price: $7.49

This was my first lip butter purchase, and is still a favorite.  The color is a classic nude color without making you look washed out or "deadening" your lips. The swatch may be slightly hard to see, but that is because it is an almost skin-tone color.  It is so very moisturizing and creamy and it just feels so good on the lips.  I do have quite a few nude colored lipsticks, but this particular one is probably my favorite!  This lipstick also doesn't have any shimmer to it, so if you are not a fan of shimmer/glitter, then this one could be for you!

 6. Revlon Lip Butter- Creamsicle

 Price: $7.49

The color of this lipstick is slightly like that of Crème Brulee.  The difference is that this one has more of an orange tint to it and is slightly more shimmery.  This particular shade is quite sheer, but it can be built up to have more opacity.  The swatch above is a bit of a heavy swatch, but that is usually how I wear it, unless I want a sheer look.  Like all of the lip butters, it is highly moisturizing and just feels great!  I think because of the tone of this lipstick, it will look great on just about every skin tone! I just think this would be a great addition to any makeup collection!

7. Revlon Lip Butter- Wild Watermelon

Price: $7.49

This is my most recent lip butter purchase and it was not a disappointment.  This color is a little out of my comfort zone, but I think it is still a beautiful color.  I do believe this shade is limited edition, but I think it is worth mentioning and getting your hands on! The color is a "pinky-red" and can be worn sheer or built up.  I find that the more you build this color, the more red that comes through! Like the other lip butters that I mentioned, the wear time for me is a few hours.  It also seems to wear off evenly which is a real plus! I very much recommend going out and trying to get your hands on this shade before it is gone!

8. NYX Round Lipstick- Indian Pink

Price: $3.99

NYX round lipsticks are probably my favorite brand of lipstick as a whole.  I just think for the price, you can't beat the quality of them!  This shade was one of the first that I tried from the line and has been a favorite ever since.  It is a beautiful pink color and is very pigmented.  I find that it has some blue undertones so it will help make your teeth look whiter (always a plus!).  This lipstick is very creamy and I think it would look great on everyone! The only downside is that (for me anyway) NYX products are only sold at Ulta or online at NYXCosmetics.com, but for the price point and quality, I think it is worth visiting one of these places.

9. NYX Round Lipstick- Iced Honey

 Price: $3.99

This is another of the NYX lipsticks, but this time it is another nude shade.  This is another of the "peachy-pink" nude shades and does have a sheen to it without being glittery.  Iced Honey, is a gorgeous color, especially for summertime! As with the other round lipsticks by NYX, it is very creamy and comfortable on the lips! Of all of these lipsticks that I own, this one is my favorite shade of the NYX lipsticks and I think it should be in everyone's makeup collection!

10. NYX Round Lipstick- Galaxy

Price: $3.99

Galaxy is the most "out there" color in my top 10! It doesn't look that different in the swatch, but I think it is!  Don't get me wrong, it is a beautiful color, it's just a little different!  It is a nude kind of color, but it is slightly taupe as well!  It also has a glossy sheen to it which I think adds to the beauty of this lipstick.  Just like all of the NYX Round Lipsticks that I have tried, it is creamy and pigmented! I like to wear this by itself, but I think it adds a really beautiful effect over other lipsticks as well.  Just like with the Rimmel lipstick above, I believe that this color would be a great addition to your collection because of all the lip combinations that this could add to! I highly recommend going out and getting your hands on this beauty!

I hope this post has been helpful for you guys and maybe you discovered a new favorite lipstick of your own from it!  Hope you guys are having a great day!!!!

     Price:

$5 at NYXcosmetics.com and also at Ulta

     My Thoughts:

I absolutely love these lip glosses.  I will probably eventually purchase all of them because I just can't get enough.  They do have a scent, but it is a wonderful scent (to me it smells like some sort of vanilla dessert...YUMMY!!).  This gloss is not the least bit sticky and it applies so smoothly.  The wear time could be better.  I usually get 1-2 hours of wear time with this gloss, which isn't great.  However, it does wear off evenly which is a plus!

     Overall:

I would rate these glosses a 4 our of 5! If not for the wear-time, it would be a 5 out of 5!  I highly recommend giving these a try!
